Winding Down

It has been an enjoyable season for fly fishing and tying expos for SEO. After the Holt, MI show in December we stayed close-to-home for the NCFF show in Kirtland, Ohio in January. In February we were able to hit the Greater Cincinnati Fly Fishing Show. Last weekend we supported the Penns Woods West TU Cabin Fever Show in Mars, PA. Below are the links to each organization and their events. Besides the vendors, there are usually top shelf seminars, tying demonstrations, and beginner activities. Keep up with the upcoming shows in your area.

GLC EXPO 2010 - Holt Michigan

Thanks to Terry Greiner and all of the folks at the Great Lakes Council for putting on another great Fly Tying Expo. We had a wonderful time and had a chance to get caught up with some old friends and meet some new ones. We sold a lot of hooks and Al-Lure this year and are looking forward to next year.

GLC EXPO 2010 - Holt Michigan, 12/4/2010

We are heading to Holt, Michigan for the Great Lakes Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers 11th Annual Fly Tying Exposition tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010). The shop floor is packed and we will be loading tonight and hitting the road. The Expo will be open to the public from 9am to 4pm. This is a great show if you are interested in any aspect of fly tying and fly fishing. Besides the vendors there will be seminars, big-time tyers giving demonstrations, raffles, and much, much more. For more information, check them out at: www.fffglc.org

Stop by the Studio E Outdoors booth and say hello. We are introducing several new products and our usual great prices. We will have hooks, eyes, beads, tools, materials and vises at reasonable prices. We specialize in Al-Lure (alpaca fiber) products and will have starter tool kits for $12 and vises starting at $8.50. We hope to see you there!

I will repost at and following the show so stop back. Thanks.

River Recon

It was a great day to be on the river. There wasn't enough time to put on the waders but I was able to take a short upstream walk along a nice stretch of the Chagrin River and scout the conditions a bit. The outside temperature was 50 degrees and the water temperature was running around 55. The median stream flow for today is 100 CFS and the picture is showing a what 155 CFS flows look like. The flow has been coming down from the rains earlier in the week. The steelhead have started into the rivers in northeast Ohio and there should be a surge in the next fews weeks if the conditions stay as nice as this. I should be able to make it out this weekend to give it a go. See you on the water!
